Mellow Monday  Cuts

Haircuts occur in the sensory room on Monday, when the barbershop is closed for regular business, by appointment only.   

At The Refinery Barbershop, we are not only a barbershop specializing in amazing fades, buzzcuts, and regular haircuts, but we have also created a special space, called the sensory room, for our Mellow Monday Cuts on Monday when the barbershop is closed.  Please call ahead for an appointment and fill out the questionnaire (that's below) so we can better serve your child.  

We begin every appointment with a conversation and review the questionnaire, listening carefully to parents, caregivers, or clients themselves.  This allows us to adapt our approach to meet each individual’s comfort level, whether providing minimal interaction, offering gentle encouragement, knowing their favorite soothing toy or favorite video, and engaging creatively to make the haircutting experience enjoyable. 

This has been thoughtfully designed to cater to children with special needs, neurodivergent adults, and their families, offering a calm, safe, and supportive environment tailored to their unique needs.  

This is more than just a haircut, it’s about cultivating trust, building confidence, and transforming what could feel like a challenging task into a rewarding experience.  At The Refinery Barbershop, we take pride in being advocates for a community that is often overlooked, ensuring everyone who visits leaves feeling understood and valued.
